I wrote this poem to Zachary in 2015 on our second Christmas without him. I’ve added more this year. Our lives have changed so much since then but one thing that hasn’t changed is how much we love him. He is still very much a part of our family and although I don’t post about him often we talk about Zachary all the time at home.
Merry Christmas bubba we miss you. All our love, Mummy, Daddy, Zara and Zayah x x x x
Another christmas without you
Another year has passed,
You should be here with your baby sister,
But instead you’re in our hearts.
As we wrap up the presents, I miss you so much. I long for you to be here and I long for your touch.
How I wish you could be here, to dance around spreading christmas cheer.
We should be watching christmas films and this year you might even understand, that Santa and his reindeer will lend us a hand.
Since christmas is busy and theres so much to do, on christmas eve they drop off wonderful presents for me and for you.
So on christmas day we’ll raise our glasses and we will make a toast, to our beautiful boy Zachary whom we love and we lost.
Four Christmases without you. This year will be the fifth, things have changed so much since then but you are still very dearly missed.
Mummy and daddy have been through tough times together but love always wins. We live in a different home now, we brought with us all your things. We feel you here with us, our little shining star. Your presence was the best present by far.
There was a little blue orb floating around us this year, mummy saw it dancing around when we were putting up our tree.
You have another baby sister now called Zayah, you and her look like twins. You have the same eyebrows, lips, nose and chin. There’s a part of you here with us and we are watching you grow. Little glimpses of you in your sisters, it warms our hearts. Another Christmas without you although we should’ve never been apart.
Your little sister Zara knows that you live in the stars, having to explain to her why was incredibly hard. She doesn’t understand why you went and we don’t know why either but he lives in the sky she says and I love him, he’s my big brother.
Pulling Christmas lights and baubles off the tree is what your sisters have been up to recently.
Fighting over candy canes, throwing dinner on the floor, running full speed to the kitchen to open the advent calendar door, these are just a few of the things you’ve missed out of many thousands more.
We’ll visit your grave side and bring you a Christmas wreath, whenever we visit you it always brings us peace.
