Hey Everyone,
If you didn’t know, I am 35 weeks pregnant now – the race is on to get everything ready for our baby boy who is due in January next year. I thought I’d do a a newborn essentials round up of my favourite products in preparation for a new baby.
I think we are almost there on the products we need to get and we cant wait for him to finally be in our arms. 9 months feels like forever when you are waiting to meet the newest little love of your life.
One for the changing bag, oh and all changing stations! If you haven’t heard of Sudocrem, are you even a parent? I’ve been using this magic antiseptic healing cream before I even had children, for myself I like to use it on spots, burns and eczema but it can be used for a number of ailments!
- Suitable for: Nappy Rash, Acne, Eczema, Cuts and Grazes, Sunburn, Minor Burns and Chilblains
- Soothes sore skin and protects against irritants
- A water-repellent base forms a protective barrier, helping to stop any irritants from coming into contact with the skin
- Contains a mild local anaesthetic to help ease pain and irritation
Now I’m a big fan of My Expert Midwife products and have packed some of their labour and birth products in my hospital bag (most excited about spritz for bits), these are my two stand out new born products from their range.
No Harm Nipple Balm, provides protection and relief for breastfeeding mums. Our 100% natural blend is intensively moisturising in a rich but thin serum that glides on easily and does not need to be removed before feeding.
No Harm Bum Balm is an award-winning, rich but simple, nappy serum that is gentle yet effective, helping to soothe and protect the skin on baby’s bottom. The serum contains only five naturally derived ingredients including medical grade lanolin for skin protection and soothing calendula.
Throughout pregnancy, birth and labour it really takes a toll on your body, and don’t I know all about it being pregnant with my fourth baby! Cool it Mama Body and Facial Spray is the perfect little mama treat to soothe and relax.
Pregnancy can be an emotional roller coaster whilst your body can succumb to nausea, headaches, restless legs and swollen ankles. Cool it Mama is the perfect friend to carry with you for that quick spritz pick-me-up just when you need it.
I’m planning on breastfeeding this little one and will need all the help I can get! It’s not the easiest of things to start with but once I get into the swing of things I will be so pleased that I persevered. I remember enjoying some herbal teas that helped with nursing and I can’t wait to try this Breast Milk Booster Tea from Mummy’s Organics.
Created by midwives, this blend of tea can promote and nourish a healthy milk supply whilst nursing. Drinking frequently throughout the day can also indirectly relieve your baby’s colic and calm their digestive system.
We all know how tricky it can be to get a fussy newborn dressed and so when I found out you can get sleepsuits/babygrows with built in vests I thought to myself, what a game changer! In all of my years of parenting I have only just discovered these from My Baby Grow.
They have a whole range of different patterns, ribbed zipper grows, striped grows and much more to choose from to make changing your baby a whole lot easier.
Making sure your little ones get all of the essential Omegas and vitamins is so important when they are growing up. Formulated with little ones in mind, Efamol® Omega 3 DHA Drops are a simple and effective way to top up your child’s Omega 3 levels. Suitable for babies, from 6 months+, and children as they progress through school, a 1ml drop will help to support your child’s brain function and vision[1]. With no fishy taste, sugar free and a natural mild lemon flavour, they can be dropped straight into the mouth or easily hidden in food.
These innovative, high strength drops are sugar free and their pure formula will give parents extra confidence that their child is getting Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) through their diet, especially if they are struggling to eat the recommended amount of oily fish.[2] The good news is that these drops are suitable for any age from 6 months plus, so mum, dad and siblings can drop DHA into their morning cereal or yogurt too.
I’m really looking forward to bathing our newest little person with these super soft sponges.
Giving you everything you need for bathing your new baby, the Ellie-Fant Foam Bath Support & Sponge Pack includes several sponge types, including the main large tapered sponge base that your little one will find soft and comfortable to lie on.
The large support sponge helps give parents confidence when bathing a new baby and fits nicely into most bathtubs. Also included in the pack are a teardrop-shaped baby sponge which is ideally shaped for cleaning a baby’s delicate features, and is super soft; essential for those important little places. As well as those, there is also a round buff sponge, also super soft and great for all over washing, and there is a natural sea sponge too. The sea sponge is gathered by hand from a sustainable source, it’s a favourite choice for parents.
I will definitely be adding to this blog post once our baby has arrived and will let you know how we get on with all of these products!
*Disclaimer – We were very kindly gifted these products to try out* – All thoughts are my own.
