Weekends are fantastic. Everyone gets to have a little downtime and you can let all of your work-related stress go. That being said, it’s also possible for weekends to be duds. At times you may feel as though they are overpacked and stressful. If you want to make sure that this coming weekend is going to be everything you want it to be and more, then this is the guide for you.
Plan Ahead if Possible
Good weekends don’t happen on their own. Sure, you do want to be spontaneous and not plan everything out, but at the end of the day, you need to make sure that you have a rough guide. Look at what is on everyone’s calendars for the weekend and then decide on how much screen time your want to give your kids. When you’ve done that, you will be able to see how much time you have to realistically do something.
Say No
Sure, your weekend will involve some things being planned, whether it’s a sports schedule, party or even recital. Even though these things may seem like things you must do, you have to remember that you have the final say. If you have too much going on, then make sure that you cut something out. If you need to tell other people that you just cannot go over for tea or if you need to tell your kids that you cannot go to two birthday parties, then that’s okay.
Have some Family Time
Some families come together naturally. If you feel as though yours does not, then you need to try and schedule some family time if possible. You don’t have to announce it to everyone, and you don’t need to make a big deal out of it either, but you do have to make sure that you do something that everyone will enjoy. You could play a family board game, or you could do a hike. Either way, you need to make sure that there’s an hour or two when you can come together with those around you. If you are going through a divorce and find family time difficult then this is understandable, so plan some activities out of the house instead. It’s also a good idea for you to hire a divorce lawyer.
Create a Meal Plan
You need to make your meal plan fun if possible. It may be that you have a themed meal, a big breakfast that comes complete with pancakes or even cinnamon rolls. Either way, eating breakfast together at the weekend is a fantastic way for you to ensure that everyone is sat down together and that you can also talk about the things you are stressed about.
Back-Up
If your kids always seem bored, then make sure that you have some activities that you can all do as a back-up. This will help you to ensure that everyone has the best weekend and that you don’t end up being left with nothing to do.
