Hi Everyone,
This weekend we have been celebrating our daughter Zara’s fifth birthday. On her actual birthday we took a trip to Legoland but this weekend we threw her a party and invited our close friends and family to celebrate with us. We decided to crack open one of the lovely bottles we were sent from Independent Wine.

It was so lovely to be able to share a bottle of wine with family and friends whilst catching up reminiscing about Zara growing up.
A little bit about Riesling 2019 – This Rhine Riesling was crafted by Peter Zemmer in Alto Adige. This is a German speaking part of Italy and his vineyard lies in the foothills of the famous Alps. Four of Peter’s wines including this have won the “Two Glasses” Award from Gambero Rosso which is the most prestigious national wine competition in Italy!
The flavours that come from this wine are so refreshing and mouthwatering. With notes of fresh fruits and flowers, particularly melon, elderflower and honeysuckle which to me screams summertime. With it having quite high acidity it’s wonderfully refreshing in taste and quite a dry wine. With the richness of the party food we had laid out for our guests, I feel like this was a wonderful accompaniment as the acidity of the wine cut through perfectly. To the nose you can really pick out all of the notes mentioned such as the melon, elderflower and honeysuckle and almost a faint bakery scent at the back which on the Independent Wine website they mention notes of bread dough and also yellow apple which I wouldn’t have guessed.
As well as going with party food I think this would be lovely to have along side some seafood like fish or prawns as it’s lovely and zingy!
It’s 13% AVB and a lovely wine to keep for a further 5 years as it will continue to develop its lovely flavours.
You can get the Peter Zimmer|Riesling 2019|Alto Adige DOC for £17.36 from Independent Wine as well as many other award winning wines.
Thank you for reading my review, I’d love to know your thoughts if you try this one too!
