Hi everyone,
I hope you’re all doing good 🙂 in this blog post I am going to be talking about different extra curricular activities that are great for children.
When children take up an extra-curricular hobby of some sort, they learn an abundance of skills, many of which you may not have even considered. Lots of parents are beginning to worry about how much time their children are spending playing on digital devices, such as smart phones, which is why it might be a good idea to encourage your child to join an extra-curricular club or start lessons in something new. This could be a type of sport, music lessons, drama club or another type of hobby; the choices are endless. I have teamed up with an independent school in North London to explore further.
One of the key benefits of an extra-curricular activity is that it helps children learn to manage their time better. They will have to juggle various different commitments, from school to homework, socialisation, relaxation and practising their new hobby. They will meet new people, whether it’s their music teacher or a whole team of football players, which will help improve their communication skills and allow them to become more open-minded.
Developing new skills and making new friends will help your child become more confident. They will receive praise when they perform well but will also learn to comprehend constructive criticism and the importance of taking part over winning. This will allow them to understand what they’re capable of if they put their mind to it. These skills, along with their newfound confidence, will serve them well in other areas of life, especially when it comes to their education.
When your child is a little older and they start applying to universities and jobs, showing that they have interests and obligations outside of their schoolwork will help them in their endeavour. This is because employers and universities are looking for candidates who have a little something about them, no matter how quirky it may be. Of course, they also look favourably on all of the skills developed through extra-curricular clubs.
