Up until just over a month ago it was a serious struggle trying to get Zara to go to bed at night. She used to be great at bed time but for a few months it had been utter chaos.
She would scream her head off, start crying uncontrollably and run back into the living room even though she’d had a nice calm bath and lots of bedtime stories read to her. It’s particularly difficult when her baby sister is desperate to have a breastfeed and a sleep and having to fight with Zara for her to stay in bed at the same time.
One evening I was about to lose the plot when I remembered I’d scrolled past something on Instagram and heard a clip of a calming story with music. I managed to find it on my App Store and thought I’d give it a go. I mean what was there to lose except my sanity?
I started up the Moshi Twilight App and picked one of the free sleep stories to play to Zara (Close your eyes sleepypaws) and before the story had even finished she was fast asleep. I was actually in shock!
I tried it again the next day for a nap as she looked tired and then again at bedtime and it was not a fluke! She actually went to sleep without fighting it.
It has quickly become a part of our bed time routine. The stories and the music are very relaxing, even the way the narrator tells the sleep story is very calming and I can see why it helps Zara fall asleep every night.
Before she lays her head down she likes to choose a sleepy story on my phone. Sometimes she chooses the same story over and over for a couple of days (she definitely has a few favourites! Wumple goes to Wumplestock, ShiShu and the tree of slumber and Blurp goes back to school.) Most of the time I will pop my head into her room and she is fast asleep before the 15 minute story has even finished.
Of course we still have the odd night where Zara is adamant that she’s not going to bed (she’s got serious FOMO Fear of missing out) and she can be up for a couple of hours longer but she does eventually get into her bed and go to sleep while listening to a sleepy story.
[wpvideo OAMQjSaC ]I actually contacted the amazing people behind the Twilight Moshi app to tell them how amazed I was and they gifted us a year subscription enabling us to access all of the stories, guided relaxation and sounds of Moshi.
To any parents who are finding bedtimes a struggle like we were, I would seriously recommend downloading the Twilight Moshi app to see if it works for you guys too!
I also discovered that this app is in partnership with Calm which won App of the year 2017 on the Apple App Store.
The app is available to download on App Store, Google Play and also Amazon.
