Hey everyone,
We are well into the summer holidays now and goodness me can this be such a challenging time especially for the default parent. I don’t know about yours but my children need to have constant entertainment. I have a just turned 7 year old, an almost 5 year old and a 6 month old little boy so they all want different things at the same time. Sometimes it’s just not possible for us to be out of the house all day, especially when the baby needs to have his naps so we spend a lot of our day at home. Toys and activities are our best friends at the moment for the days we are at home – and they really do help in keeping the kids entertained during the summer holidays curb their boredom.

With the kids being all a few years apart, their choice of toys are all very different. The older two do like some similar things and often fight but they also like to be different from each other. Wicked Uncle have toys and activities on their website suitable for all ages. What I love about their website is that you can search for toys and gifts by clicking on the different ages – then a whole selection of toys pop up that are suitable for each child. I’ve found lots of things that my kids enjoy.
Building things together! My kids love to build all sorts of things, a maze for Maui (our pet hamster) out of mega blox, lego, cardboard boxes. We’ve also spent some time creating a marble run. The 7 year old enjoyed this the most! It’s really lovely to see their imaginations go wild as they create their own as well as what was on the box.
My girls love to get creative, and whilst I do enjoy this with them too – it often can get very messy especially if there are paints and sticky play doh or slime. We’ve recently found some magic water colour sets. The most amazing thing about these is that they are mess free and also reusable, so once they’ve dried up they can be used again and again! We recently took a trip to Bournemouth beach and these were a saviour on the train journeys there and back too. We were able to fill up the pens whilst on the train since they only need water.
Not forgetting our youngest bubs Wyatt who is 6 months old, well he’s into EVERYTHING at the moment including things that aren’t toys but he does love toys that move, toys with lights and toys with noise. Bonus points if he can have a cheeky chew on it! I will be purchasing these on our next pay day. The Penguin musical wobbler which tinkles as he moves and wobbles which is perfect for our almost crawler. The Magic Touch Smart Symphony toy I will keep for him for when he can sit up unaided – I already know he’s going. to love this! We’ve had toys from these brands before and they are such great quality. We still have one or two around the house that we’ve had since my youngest daughter was a baby.
Not only is it great that I can purchase toys and activities from the same website, this will come in so handy for gift buying for birthdays and Christmas. Being able to find gifts for a specific age makes it a lot easier to shop and make sure that I can then buy something that the kids can enjoy. I for one know that my family and friends will like to use this website too.
Aside from the above, entertaining at home with toys. Some other bits we have been getting up to during the summer holidays have involved; Movie days or nights, pick up some popcorn and a packet of sweeties to share between the family and settle in at home with a lovely family movie that you can enjoy together.
Getting outside and go for walks (when it’s not too hot of course) let them burn off some energy, (which may I add, they have a lot of) visit the local parks – mine love it!

These are some really great games and toys to help keep the children entertained in the Summer. My nephew and niece are coming to stay from Saturday for nearly 3 weeks and we have lots of fun things planned. Thank you for sharing your suggestions.

I don’t have kids but these are all such great ideas to keep them entertained during the summer months!
These are great tips on keeping the kids entertained during the holidays. Because I have a nursery age toddler, we tend to avoid soft play and other activities which will be packed during the summer. Therefore I need lots of home entertainment like this.
That colour in card could easily keep me entertained too – and I am 32!
