Think About Soft & Squishy Furniture
Firstly, home comforts are something you want to create, even for your children’s room. Anything soft and squishy is likely to be a positive for your child because it probably reminds them of cuddles and protection with you as their parent. You may want to get a few kids bean bags and perhaps a comfortable space to relax in that can be for storytime or nap time. Whatever you feel is going to work best for your child and that is going to help support their body.
Having a play area is important and that’s why soft play is so good for kids because it can help protect them whilst being a lot of fun. So if you have the space, why not create a type of soft play area in part of the bedroom that they can enjoy. It’s something that will likely go down well.
Bring In Some Soft Furnishings
Soft furnishings are important when it comes to your kid’s rooms as mentioned above. So another way to bring in some softer elements is to incorporate soft furnishings into the space. It could be by getting some fluffy cushions or perhaps a throw or two. Use soft furnishings as a way to inject colours but to also provide textures and more comfort for your child. The more you can add in, the better. The beauty of soft furnishings is that you’re also able to switch it up when you need to. With cushions, in particular, you can change over the covers to something more seasonal when needed.
Incorporate The Right Lighting
The right lighting is useful to get a hold of when it comes to decorating your kid’s room and creating that cosy space. One of the most popular forms of lighting when creating a cosy room is to use fairy lights. Fairy lights are also fairly versatile and so they’re good to drape around the room and to highlight certain areas. The cosy spot in your kid’s bedroom, whether it’s part of the room or encompasses all of it, can be made even more cosier with fairy lights and warm lighting in general. Lights don’t have to be plain-looking either – the little Star Wars fan in your life, might like something like this neon sign star wars in their bedroom to add a little personality.
Use The Right Colours
The right colours are important because some can often be a bit harsh. It’s worth finding colours that your kid loves so that they can appreciate the space. Find colours that are mostly calming where you can and make it work for the space too. Mix it up every so often and think about how you can inject the colours in different ways.
Making a cosy space for your kid’s room is important so use these tips to help make it nice for your child.

Some things are so simple and yet they do really make a difference to how you feel… Like making sure you get outdoors every day if possible. During the first coronavirus lockdown, we always made sure to pop into the garden every evening with Little Man, to spend a little time with nature, and it always really lifted my mood. Unless it was raining, of course!
