Hi Everyone,
I hope you’re all doing okay! I know a lot of people have been doing up their homes whilst they’ve been spending a lot more time at home this year and I have a few pointers that would be great for styling out your place.
Most of my inspo has come from one of my best friends Ellie (@housefortysix on Instagram – check out her page, it’s full of beautiful interior photos) how she’s not an interior designer? I don’t know but I really think that she should be.
I’ve seen that it’s become one of the latest trends in 2020 to have solid wood flooring and whilst it’s beautiful to look at, here are some tips and products you could purchase for styling it in your home.
An issue that can occur with solid wood flooring and especially if it’s old are bugs and termites. Take a look at https://www.pestcontrolexperts.com/exterminator/oklahoma/ for more information on this.
I love the idea of having rattan baskets in the room, not only to they add a bit of character- you can use them for storing things and keeping the place tidier. Another basket idea would be to get some belly baskets and fill them with cosy blankets ready for those colder nights. In my house I am sure they would be filled with toys as my children hide toys everywhere!
It’s always nice to have a bit of greenery in the house and big house plants look so nice with solid wood flooring. Whether they are real or artificial you could get a monstera or a palm tree. I’ve seen pineapple plants make an appearance quite a lot this year and think they are super cute.
A rug can completely change a room and there are so many to choose from. If you have a theme you could choose one that will fit in nicely with the rest of your interior. In the picture above they’ve used the textured rug under the table but you could place it anywhere in the room.
You could use some boho prints to add a splash of colour to your walls and they look great with wooden flooring too. It’s a simple but effective way to add colour to your home and you can always move them around if you change your theme.
I absolutely love these and think they are really beautiful. Not only would they look good on the wall, you can get them in colours to match your room. I’ve come across some really beautiful macrame wall hangings online and in a range of designs, colours and sizes. Some people use the macrame hanging as a centre piece, I’ve seen giant ones that take up most of a wall and think it’s a wonderful idea.
You could use some or all of these ideas to style your home and they look so well put together paired with wood flooring and either wood or MDF skirting boards. I love to look on Pinterest for home inspo and decor ideas as well as on Instagram.
