Hey everyone,
I’ve recently just celebrated my 29th birthday , I can’t quite believe I’m not in my last year of my twenties but hey ho life goes by way too quickly.

What better way to celebrate a summer birthday than by having a bbq. We were very blessed with sunshine and warm weather on my birthday which was a pleasant surprise as it’s been a downpour on the rest of the days this week. (Typical British summertime eh)
My fiancé Reuben was in charge of all the cooking on my birthday as he wanted me to just relax and enjoy the day. For dinner he picked up some steaks to chuck on the barbecue and he served it medium rare with chunky triple cooked chips, a side salad and a red wine sauce which he’d he spent ages on making. We had a little bit of the Chianti Classico left over which he reduced down with some caramelised onions, stock, herbs and spices. It was absolutely delicious and he was super proud as we all enjoyed it so much.
We had dinner alfresco in the garden and it was lovely sitting around our dining table together in the sunshine with our little girls. To go with our food we had a lovely bottle of Red Wine Diecianni 2018 | Negroamaro | Decanter Bronze Medal from Independent Wine. It’s a rich and full bodied wine with aromas of plum and cherry. It had a slightly smokey flavour due to being aged in oak barrels with vanilla and spice. The flavour of this went very nicely with the smokiness of our barbecue’d steaks.
Even though it is rich in flavour it seemed to cut through the richness of our meal and they paired very well together. My partner also really enjoyed this wine and we think it would also go well with homemade pizza or a tomato based pasta dish. It’s 13% AVB and available for £12.23 from Independent Wine.
