I’ve always been intrigued by the concept of reusable wipes and I’ve seen them mentioned quite a lot since we started using cloth nappies but never gave them a try until recently.
We were very grateful to be sent an all in one washable baby wipes kit to try out from the lovely people over at Cheeky Wipes.

The washable baby wipes kit is so easy to set up and once that’s done they are ready to use straight away.
We’ve been using these cheeky wipes for a good couple of weeks now and are really getting along with them. I was so surprised that I can clean a baby/toddler poo with just one cheeky wipe! Or 2 at the most which to me is pretty amazing! It’s going to sound so bad but I use so many wipes at a time when using disposable ones and we were going through absolutely LOADS. The cheeky wipes definitely have been through a true test as the first week we had them, Zara had a terrible stomach bug.
The essential oils that come in the kit for the fresh box and the mucky box smell really lovely, fresh and certainly do their job.
Cheeky Wipes Baby Wipes Soaking Solution
The cheeky wipes are very gentle yet very effective at cleaning little bottoms (as I’ve mentioned above you only need just the one or 2 at the most). You’ll never get a dry wipe there is enough water and essential oil solution to soak into every wipe when you set it up in the fresh box. Once you’ve finished using a wipe you pop it into the mucky box which has water, tea tree and lemon essential oil and a mesh bag inside and close the box again.
Once the mucky box is full you simply pull out the mesh bag and close it with the drawstring and pop it into the machine ready for a wash. You then empty the mucky box and give it a good clean ready for use again. I was particularly surprised that when I pulled out the mesh bag to put in the wash it didn’t have any bad smells despite being used to clean up poo!
I love that the cheeky wipes can be taken out and about with us. The kit comes with two out and about bags. One for the fresh wipes and another for the dirty wipes. You simply take a few wipes from your fresh box and pop them into the fresh bag. When they are dirty you pop them into the mucky bag. The mucky wipes bag has a removable mesh bag just like the mucky box which means you can pop them straight in the wash without having to handle them one by one.
For those of you worried about all of the extra washing, I don’t even notice it since you can just chuck them in with a normal load of washing! You don’t even have to dry them after every wash you can pop them straight back into the fresh box, although it is recommended dry them every other wash to keep them in good condition which is what I’ve been doing. The wipes come out lovely, soft and clean every time.
I’ve added a video below of when the wipes have come out of the wash, ready to be used again!

We will continue to use our cheeky wipes kit as I think it’s brilliant. It still feels a bit weird not loading the shopping trolley up with a big box of baby wipes every week but I’ll get used to it! My mum brought us some of the microfibre cheeky wipes to use on the girls hands and faces as they are the muckiest of pups and they have also been great. I use them like I would a flannel and put a little bit of baby wash on them with warm water to clean the girls hands and faces after meals, I find they are much more effective than regular baby wipes.
For anyone thinking of trying reusable wipes I would definitely recommend cheeky wipes. They do a whole range of reusable products from toilet paper to breast pads (wish I’d seen the breast pads sooner!) Check out some more easy eco swaps for families here.
