Now that Zara’s old enough to sort of understand birthdays the build up to her birthday and the day itself were so much fun! Things like choosing the cake, asking her what she would like to do on her birthday and telling her who she would be seeing on her special day made her so excited. Every day for the two weeks leading up to her 3rd birthday she would ask if it was her birthday bless her little heart.
We decided that for Zara’s 3rd birthday we would have a picnic at Frimley lodge park with her closest friends and some of our family. A place where I have my own childhood memories. There’s a lovely play area with sand, trails, the Basingstoke canal and a miniature railway although we only stayed in the park area.
We all had an amazing day, especially the birthday girl Zara! Seeing her little face as we were all singing her happy birthday brought tears to my eyes.
It was so lovely to spend time with everyone and catch up with those who we’d not seen in a while. Seeing all the little ones happy and playing together made sitting in 30 degree heat not seen so bad. The kids got SO mucky especially our god daughter Jasmine who won the award for muddiest face!
A few people ended up coming back to ours afterwards and we stuck all the kids in the shower because they were covered in dirt and sand!
A big thank you to my mum who traipsed around with us looking for birthday bits and spent loads of time cooking food ready for her picnic party. She made the most delicious pulled pork and fried rice. There was so much left over we had pulled pork and cake for days!
Thank you to everyone who came, for the cards and presents and those who wished her a happy birthday! Zara’s still living her best birthday life a week after her birthday and keeps talking about her special day.
I can’t believe we have a sassy little three year old 💁♀️
